Biography |
Hernán
Cristante was born September 16,
1969 in La Plata, in the province of Buenos
Aires, Argentina.
He was the second child and first son of
Rolando Cristante and Ilda Mandarino.
He was raised in La Plata and had his first
contact with soccer when he was only 4 years
old.
From the very beginning, he wanted to be a
goalkeeper. “I liked everything
about being a goalie... The role and skills
required are different, and of course, there
were difficult challenges I needed to overcome”
says Cristante.
A natural athlete, he explored various
sports during his youth including
volleyball,swimming, rugby, tennis, ping-pong
y firearms but never stopped playing soccer. |

At the age of
14, Hernán began to see competition in a
different light, and realized he wanted to be a
professional soccer player.
|
|
Hernán understood that his goal
represented serious challenges and would be very
demanding on many levels. He had always had a
strong focus on his academic efforts,
and continued his college studies at the Universidad
Nacional de La Plata, where he studied
Business Administration. The demands of being
part of the national team, the Selección
Nacional Argentina, were demanding, forcing
him to make a decision as to the direction
his life would take.
Due to his inquisitive mind and his strong desire
to improve his knowledge of the
world, the decision was not easy, but in the end
his drive and commitment to soccer won
the upper hand.
To continue his intellectual development, he continues
to read extensively and constantly, and always
looks for new ideas and visions. |

Hérnan
married his neighborhood girlfriend, and
in 1998 the first of his three daughters,
Giana, was born.
He was a dedicated father from day one,
and he considers the achievements of his
daughters arehis greatest accomplishments.
He thrives on his girls' activities, ranging
from showing them the natural beauty of
Argentina and México
to helping them with schoolwork and teaching
them to ride bikes.
In 2000 Agustina was born
followed by Valentina in
2003. With the same intensity
he demonstrates in his sport, he derives
extreme joy from being with his daughters.

| According to Cristante,
his most important dreams are to be there for the
challenges and accomplishments of his daughters,
travel to other countries to learn about different
cultures, and to always find a way to improve himself
every day. |
And
despite a full and active calendar,
Hernán finds time to visit
hospitals and to be involved with
community charities.
In 2002, he completed his studies
to be a Director Técnico,
or professional coach..
In addition, he finds time to play the
saxophone, and continues reading
books on science, history and religion
to help satisfy his goal for constant personal
improvement. |
